Joss Whedon's Equality Now speech

"So, why do you write these strong female characters?"
"Because equality isn't a concept."

It's not a women's issue, it's a human issue. Do something about it. It can start as small acts, like not laughing at a sexist joke, at forming a union where you work to help women receive the same pay, benefits, it's fighting for PAID maternity leave, it's remembering that we all come from vaginas, and women deserve respect, dignity, independence, and that we are all interdependent.
